Of course, I wholly respect OCCRP’s right to move on from the open source community and to work to build journalists trust around a new, proprietary platform.
I very much want the journalists in OCCRP’s network to have access to great tools, so sincerely hope that the underlying commercial strategy will make up for the loss of the benefits in cooperation we could have materialized between OCCRP, DARC and OpenSanctions.
In any case, I’m wondering: has there been any discussion as to whether the new tool - now Aleph Pro - could carry a different name? This could help to avoid some confusion going forward.
As you know, the Aleph name does not originate from OCCRP, and for me it’s always been synonymous with creating open source technology that has the potential to benefit a whole community.
